Nicole McAuley “I started learning to drive a couple of months after my 17th Birthday, I was really nervous at the prospect of me driving a car, I never really wanted to learn to drive, all my friends drove and my mum drove me around therefore I decided I wouldn’t bother. However, my mum bought me a block of lessons for my birthday in the hope that it would change my mind. Ian was a fantastic instructor! He was good at explaining everything. If I completed things well and correct he gave me praise which was motivating and confidence building, if I done things wrong he never patronised me or made me feel stupid infact it was constructive criticism. I feel that the rates per hour were good, it made learning to drive, affordable. I liked how he offered good deals which would enable me to save money. Ian did not just show me how to drive , he educated me and taught me how to become the best driver that I could possibly be. I feel confident driving in all weathers (sun, snow, thunder) at different times of the day/night and in different levels of traffic. Ian was flexible with driving lessons, he created a lesson plan that worked around my other commitments such as college and work. I learned to drive in approx 8 months, I passed my test with 4 minor driving faults. This was definitely due to the amount of encouragement and support throughout the practical lessons as well as support and guidance throughout my theory test preparation. A year on learning to drive was one of the best decisions I’ve made it opens up lots of opportunities and makes you feel independent but learning to drive with Ian Hellyer’s School of Motoring was by far, the best decision I’ve made to date.” - Nicole McAuley (18)
